Oracle Label Security, an option for the Oracle Database 10g Release 2, adds extensive protection for sensitive information. First introduced in Oracle9i, Oracle Label Security delivers multilevel security capabilities to address real world data security and privacy problems faced by government and commercial entities worldwide.

Oracle Label Security can be combined with Virtual Private Database, Secure Application Roles, and Oracle Database Vault to provide powerful solutions for protecting personally identifiable information.

• Control access based on data sensitivity—Multi-level security enables strong protection and selective dissemination of information
• Enforce compliance—Fine grained access control implements and maintains row level security for sensitive data that is subject to privacy and compliance regulations such as SOX and HIPPA
• Easy to implement—Management and enforcement of multi-level security is can be administered directly by the Oracle Database Enterprise Manager or through Oracle Identity Manager
